Musical life in Anhalt-Zerbst during the eighteenth century was shaped significantly by court Kapellmeister Johann Friedrich Fasch (1688–1758) and the members of his Princely Kapelle. The articles in this conference report paint a much fuller and varied picture. The main focus are musicians, including two dancing masters, who were active prior, during, and after Fasch’s tenure from 1722 to 1758 and shared a connection with the Zerbst court, the town of Zerbst, the principality of Anhalt-Zerbst, its enclave Jever, or the Anhalt region in general. Their repertoire choices are discussed as well.
